    Oakland Community Outreach

    Urban Strategies Council

Organized community forums bridging residents with city leadership, supporting equitable policy development through multilingual outreach and resource distribution.

    the challenge

Oakland residents lacked direct channels to engage with city leadership on policy decisions affecting their communities, and existing outreach efforts did not reach non-English-speaking populations.

    the approach

As a Deeply Rooted Fellow with the Urban Strategies Council, Taylor organized community forums that brought together 12 Oakland-based organizations and elected officials to facilitate resident-leadership dialogue. The role included managing survey collection at community events, creating trilingual educational materials, and distributing health resources across neighborhoods.

    • Managed survey collection at 30+ community events
